This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X125-100 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X125-100 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-100 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125-100 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X125-100 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 125 mm stroke by up to 100 mm, giving a usable range of 25-125 mm on site. At the 12 mm bore it delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. The 125 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. A practical sizing rule: plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s. No magnet is fitted on this version, so position switches cannot be mounted unless you order the -S code.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X125-100 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X125-100 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×125 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Holds small PCB-mounted switches and relay housings during solder or screw-driving, using the trimmed 25-125 mm extend range to match shallow fixture depths.
Ejects off-spec 2-5 g vials from a pharma inspection lane at up to 500 mm/s; the 56.5 N push is ample for parts this light.
Seats low-force connectors in telecom harness jigs, where the 34 N working figure keeps delicate contacts undamaged.
Size up or down from the 12 mm bore: the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N, while this 12 mm unit suits light clamping and small part transfer at 56.5 N. If you need position sensing, order the -S variant so CMSE / DMSE switches can be used. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a load-holding device. Before ordering, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ACEJ12X125 replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -100 code is a 100 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw trims the 125 mm extend stroke anywhere down to 25 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed is 30-500 mm/s. The 125 mm stroke is non-standard for this bore and made to order.
It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and an M5x0.8 port; the body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings are available, and the rod end is female M3x0.5. No magnet is fitted unless the optional -S code is ordered, which then allows CMSE / DMSE switches. The model is discontinued - the ACEJ12X125 is the current drop-in; confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
