AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X125-10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, built on the DIN-standard ACP short body: a hard-anodized aluminium barrel with threaded aluminium covers, an S45C hard-chrome piston rod and a fixed TPU bumper at each end. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), running at 30-500 mm/s on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered air. The 125 mm stroke is longer than the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build.
The -10 code adds a 10 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere within 115-125 mm, so one cylinder can be tuned to several fixture positions on site. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits slim slides and guarded stations. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 34 N (roughly 3 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin) of usable work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating. Note the stop is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock: on air loss the piston still drifts. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X125, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick light molded clips or bushings off a fixture, and the 10 mm trim window lets operators fine-tune the eject position without shimming.
With a body about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, the 12 mm bore slides into guarded electronics sorters where space above the part is minimal; add the -S magnet code on the replacement for CMSE / DMSE switching.
About 3 kg of vertical lift capacity with a 2:1 margin at 0.5 MPa holds thin circuit boards or small housings down during probing, with the male rod thread simplifying knuckle attachment.
At 12 mm bore you are at the light end of the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your jig needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N). The B code gives a male 6 mm rod thread; the port is M5x0.8. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face, and I/Y rod knuckles are available. Position sensing requires the optional -S magnet code for CMSE / DMSE switches - this model has no S code, so no magnet is fitted and no switch can be mounted. Since ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X125 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting footprint first.
