This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X125-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X125-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: a stop screw trims the 125 mm extend stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 115-125 mm. Air works on both faces of the piston, so at 0.5 MPa you get 56.5 N pushing and 42.4 N pulling; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull. The 125 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm standard limit for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters in slim fixtures and guarded assemblies. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (60% of the push rating), which corresponds to lifting roughly 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke detection. Note the ACPJ family is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X125, and you should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series follows the DIN standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X125-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X125-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×125 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted magnet plus a CMSE switch confirms the trimmed 115-125 mm extend position before a small plastic clip is pushed off a nest on an assembly line.
A 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa with an on-site 10 mm stop adjustment lets a lab press the probe onto a PCB connector at exactly the right depth.
The short body, about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, slides into a narrow machine guard to latch a sliding cover.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to bore 16 for 100.5 N or bore 20 for 157.1 N at the same pressure if the load is heavier. The 10 mm adjustment window suits applications where the exact extend position is tuned on the machine, not set at the factory. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load mid-stroke. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet lets you add CMSE / DMSE switches. Order ACEJ12X125 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting footprint first.
Replacement checklist
Bore 12 mm, stroke 125 mm with a 10 mm adjustment window (usable 115-125 mm). At 0.5 MPa: 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull. At 0.7 MPa: 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull. Theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um, M5x0.8 port, female M3x0.5 rod thread, fixed TPU bumpers both ends. The 125 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard for this bore.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke on site within the ordered 10 mm window; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 125 mm. It is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X125, an ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP series was built to the DIN standard.
