This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X125-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X125-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-10SB

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-10SB

This double acting compact cylinder, the AirTAC ACPJ12X125-10SB, trims its 125 mm extend stroke on site with a stop screw inside a 10 mm window, so the usable range is 115-125 mm. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it reaches 79.2 N on the push side, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 125 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X125.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into narrow jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Because the S code is ordered, the magnet is fitted and CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be clamped on for end-of-stroke signals. The B code gives a male rod thread on the 6 mm rod, and the fixed TPU bumpers at both ends simply decelerate the piston at each end. For sizing, expect about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, and plan on lifting roughly 2.9 kg vertically once you keep a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X125-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Where the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-10SB Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Micro press ejection in watch assembly

The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa ejects finished watch movements or connector pins from shallow nests, and the 10 mm trim window lets the setter dial the eject travel between 115 and 125 mm without re-plumbing.

sensors

Position-flagged gate on a lab sample indexer

With the fitted magnet and a DMSE solid-state switch, the PLC confirms the gate reached the trimmed stop before the next sample tray advances, at indexing speeds anywhere in the 30-500 mm/s band.

compress

Low-force clamping of PCB fixtures

About 34 N of practical clamping force at 0.5 MPa holds thin circuit boards against a locating rail during solder inspection, and the short body fits inside the tight fixture frame where a full-length cylinder will not.

Replacing the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-10SB with the ACEJ12X125-10SB

Compare both directions before committing: bore 16 pushes 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while stepping down is not possible below bore 12 in this family. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke; it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can still drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order ACEJ12X125 instead - it is the current drop-in for the same bore, stroke and force class, but confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACEJ12X125-10SB
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-10SB FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; the theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window, so the 125 mm extend stroke can be trimmed to any length from 115 to 125 mm with the stop screw. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 125 mm stroke is a made-to-order length since bore 12 normally tops out at 50 mm.

An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke within the ordered 10 mm window; it is a mechanical end stop only, so it never holds a load if air pressure drops. Because this model carries the optional -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches mount directly on the body for end-of-stroke detection. The model itself is discontinued - order ACEJ12X125 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap.
