This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X125-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X125-10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 125 mm stroke by up to 10 mm on site, giving a usable range of 115-125 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Note the 125 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so this is a made-to-order build. The ACPJ family is discontinued; ACEJ12X125 is the current-production replacement in the same force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends. Because no S code is ordered here, there is no magnet and no CMSE / DMSE switch can be fitted - order the -S variant if sensing is needed. For real-world sizing, plan on roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X125-10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X125-10 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×125 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 34 N working push at 0.5 MPa suits light staking or marking of small aluminium brackets in a bench-top jig.
The 115-125 mm adjustable range ejects finished parts from shallow drawers; add the -S magnet code if CMSE or DMSE switching is required.
The short body, about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, gates small cartons inside tight guarding at 30-500 mm/s.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest ACPJ size: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for bore 16 and 157.1 N for bore 20. If your part or clamp load needs more than about 34 N of working force, step up a bore. The female M3x0.5 rod thread takes standard I/Y knuckles, and FA flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. The stop screw shortens the extend stroke only - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so on air loss the piston still drifts. Before ordering, confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and consider ACEJ12X125 as the drop-in successor.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), and speed range 30-500 mm/s. The 125 mm stroke is made to order since bore 12 tops out at 50 mm as a standard stroke.
The -10 code gives a 10 mm window: a stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere within 115-125 mm. It is a mechanical end stop, not a load-holding lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. The ACPJ is discontinued; ACEJ12X125 is the current drop-in with the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
