This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X125-20SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X125-20SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-20SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125-20SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X125-20SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 125 mm stroke by up to 20 mm on site, giving a usable range of 105-125 mm. This 12 mm bore unit delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa), with a male rod thread (B code) and the -S magnet already fitted so CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke signalling. The 125 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so it is a non-standard, made-to-order build.
Its hard-anodized aluminium short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarded stations. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 34 N (about 3.5 kg) of real work at 0.5 MPa, or lift about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that the ACPJ family is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X125 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X125-20SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X125-20SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×125 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clears light aluminium or plastic parts from nests, and the 20 mm adjustment window lets technicians fine-tune the eject position between 105 and 125 mm without swapping cylinders.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches signal the trimmed extend position, so a 105-125 mm verified press or present stroke can be interlocked into the PLC sequence.
A short body about 50% more compact than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder fits inside slim guarding, applying about 34 N of practical clamping force at 0.5 MPa on small brackets or PCB fixtures.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your fixture, step up to bore 16 (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa); if the load is under about 34 N, bore 12 is already the smallest in the range. The mechanical stop only shortens the extend stroke within the 20 mm window - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so on air loss the piston still drifts and an external brake is needed to hold a load. Mounting uses FA/FB flange or LB foot on the ISO 21287 face, and the fitted -S magnet pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, order the ACEJ12X125 instead, as this ACPJ model is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code gives a 20 mm adjustment window, so the 125 mm extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere in a 105-125 mm range with the stop screw. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, port M5x0.8, rod 6 mm with male thread, and the 125 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12.
The ACPJ family is no longer in production. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125 (swap the P for an E), an ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class with the same FA/FB flange and LB foot mounting family. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping. If you need position sensing on the replacement, order the -S magnet code so CMSE / DMSE switches can be used.
