This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X125-20 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X125-20 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-20

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-20 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125-20 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-20

Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ12X125-20 is a DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 125 mm stroke that a stop screw can trim by up to 20 mm, giving a usable extend range of 105-125 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.

Plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the 56.5 N rating), which corresponds to lifting about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The 125 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for a 12 mm bore, so this unit is made to order. Note the ACPJ family is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X125, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X125-20 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

The ACEJ12X125-20 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

Where the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-20 Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Small-part ejection from assembly fixtures

The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa (about 34 N of usable work) is enough to kick stamped terminals or molded clips off a nest, and the 105-125 mm adjustable range lets technicians dial the eject point without re-machining the fixture.

science

Sample pusher in a compact lab analyzer

With a body roughly 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder and an M5x0.8 port, this 12 mm bore slides into tight analyzer decks to advance sample trays one position per cycle at 30-500 mm/s.

vertical_align_bottom

Light vertical lift on a packaging line

Halving the 56.5 N thrust gives a vertical lift of about 2.9 kg with margin - suitable for raising a small gate or a lightweight sensor bracket on a cartoner, with the fixed TPU bumper softening both ends of travel.

Replacing the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-20 with the ACEJ12X125-20

Size both ways: if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal, step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N; if the load is lighter, the same 12 mm bore in a shorter standard stroke (up to 50 mm) costs less than this made-to-order 125 mm unit. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston can still drift, so it is not a load-holding brake. Rod end is a female M3x0.5 thread on a 6 mm rod, porting is M5x0.8, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. This model carries no magnet (no S code), so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be fitted; order an -S variant if sensing is needed. For new builds, specify the ACEJ12X125 instead.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACEJ12X125-20
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-20 FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code is a 20 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 125 mm extend stroke on site, so the usable range is 105-125 mm. It cannot lengthen the stroke past 125 mm, and the stop is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston drifts. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.

Yes, but it is a made-to-order stroke: the maximum standard stroke for a 12 mm bore is 50 mm, so 125 mm is built as a non-standard unit. Be aware the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X125 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 family - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your DIN-standard ACP footprint before ordering. Also note this model has no magnet (the -S code is optional), so CMSE or DMSE switches cannot be mounted unless you order an S variant.
