This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X125-30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X125-30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-30SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125-30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This AirTAC ACPJ12X125-30SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 125 mm stroke by up to 30 mm on site, giving a usable range of 95-125 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. Note that the 125 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so this unit is a made-to-order build. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits slim fixtures and guarded stations. Construction is a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod, a male rod thread (B code), PT ports and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. Because the -S magnet is fitted, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly. In practice, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X125-30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X125-30SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×125 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted -S magnet lets a CMSE switch confirm the trimmed 95-125 mm extend position before the next PCB index, with 56.5 N enough to push small boards off a rail.
About 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa holds light aluminium die-cast covers against a gauge fixture, and the stop screw sets the exact clamp approach.
The 2.9 kg vertical-lift margin suits pressing plastic caps onto sample bottles, with the TPU bumpers softening both ends at 30-500 mm/s.
Size against the load: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; if you need more, the 16 mm bore offers 100.5 N and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N under the same pressure. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke within the 30 mm window - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. For new designs, order the ACEJ12X125 instead, matching the same bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window, so the 125 mm extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere in a 95-125 mm range. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 125 mm stroke is made to order since bore 12 normally tops out at 50 mm.
It is a short-body compact cylinder whose mounting length is about 50% less than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a hard-anodized aluminium body, male rod thread, M5x0.8 ports and fixed TPU bumpers. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the drop-in successor is the ACEJ12X125 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before converting.
