This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X125-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X125-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 125 mm stroke by up to 30 mm on site, giving a usable range of 95-125 mm. At the small 12 mm bore it delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. The 125 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note: the ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X125.
The hard-anodized aluminium body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guard channels. A fixed TPU bumper sits at each end, and the female M3x0.5 rod thread takes standard knuckles. As a working figure, plan on about 34 N (roughly 3 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin) rather than the full 56.5 N rating. Running speed is 30-500 mm/s at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X125-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X125-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×125 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to nudge stamped terminals or plastic caps off a nest, with the 95-125 mm adjustable reach matching shallow die pockets.
With the optional -S magnet and CMSE switches, end-of-travel detection fits inside the short body that saves about 50% of the length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.
About 34 N of practical working force holds thin circuit boards against a fixture during probing, and the TPU bumpers soften contact at both stroke ends.
At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this bore suits light clamping and positioning; step down is not available below 12 mm, while the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if you need more force. The 30 mm window only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift if air is lost. No magnet is fitted on this code, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be used; order the -S version if sensing is needed. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Before ordering, confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and consider the ACEJ12X125 as the current drop-in.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N. Theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The rod is 6 mm with an M3x0.5 female thread, the port is M5x0.8, speed is 30-500 mm/s, and the 125 mm stroke is a non-standard, made-to-order length (standard tops out at 50 mm for this bore).
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 30 mm, so the rod can be set anywhere in a 95-125 mm range; it cannot extend past the ordered 125 mm. It acts only as an end stop, so the piston still drifts on air loss. The ACPJ is discontinued - the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X125 in the same bore, stroke and force class; confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
