This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X125-50S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X125-50S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-50S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125-50S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This compact cylinder works double acting: air extends and retracts the 6 mm rod, and a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 50 mm window, so the 125 mm stroke is usable from 75 to 125 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The 125 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X125, in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim pick-and-place heads and tight fixture plates. The -S code on this model means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the hard-anodized aluminium body. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 34 N (about 60% of the push rating) of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s and the fixed TPU bumper at each end only decelerates the piston; it never holds a load if air is lost.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X125-50S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X125-50S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×125 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick machined bushings off a fixture, and the 75-125 mm adjustable range lets the operator tune the eject point without re-plumbing.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE switches confirm extend and retract on each 125 mm cycle, while the compact body fits inside a slim guarding frame.
About 2.9 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin covers light flap-pressing work, and the 50 mm stop screw window absorbs carton height changes between SKUs.
Size up or down by force: bore 16 gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while staying at bore 12 keeps the M5x08 plumbing and the 6 mm rod slim. The 50 mm adjust window suits stations where the final position is tuned on the machine, not on paper. Match FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts to your fixture, and keep the -S magnet if you need CMSE or DMSE switch feedback. Because this model is discontinued, order ACEJ12X125 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard.
Replacement checklist
Double acting, bore 12 mm, stroke 125 mm with a 50 mm adjustment window (usable 75-125 mm). Push 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; push 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa; theoretical maximum 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Port M5x0.8, female rod thread M3x0.5, operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, fixed TPU bumper both ends. The 125 mm stroke is a made-to-order length because the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. Order ACEJ12X125 instead: swap the P for an E and you get the current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, because the ACP was built to a DIN standard. The ACEJ also carries the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches.
