This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X125-50SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X125-50SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-50SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125-50SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: a stop screw trims the 125 mm extend stroke by up to 50 mm, giving a usable range of 75-125 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. In practice, plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The 125 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a non-standard, made-to-order stroke.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a male thread (B code), and this model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted. Fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. Note that the ACPJ family is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X125, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X125-50SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X125-50SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×125 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa and 75-125 mm adjustable range suit ejecting light aluminium or plastic parts from drilling and tapping fixtures.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm extend and retract on a 12 mm bore clamp rated 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa.
About 2.8 kg of vertical working load at a 2:1 margin makes this a fit for light pressing of connectors and small inserts on assembly benches.
Bore 12 is the smallest in the family at 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; step up to bore 16 (100.5 N) or bore 20 (157.1 N) if the load needs more force. The -50 adjuster only shortens the extend stroke within its 50 mm window and is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston will still drift on air loss. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings suit the ISO 21287 face, and the fitted -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. This model is discontinued; order the ACEJ12X125 as the current replacement and verify mounting dimensions against the datasheet.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with proof pressure of 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and air filtered to 40 um.
The -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 125 mm extend stroke to any length from 75 mm up, and fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at both ends. The ACPJ is discontinued; the ACEJ12X125 is the current ISO 21287 drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the mounting dimensions before swapping.
