This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X15-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X15-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X15-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 15mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X15-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ12X15-10S is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 15 mm stroke that an external stop screw trims by up to 10 mm, giving a usable extend range of 5-15 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot.
Plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the push rating), which is about 3 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin - enough for small covers, sensors or light fixtures. The -S code on this model means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted directly. Since the ACPJ family is no longer in production, the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X15 in the same bore, stroke and force class; confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X15-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X15-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×15 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to seat light circuit boards into a test nest, and the fitted magnet with a CMSE switch confirms the trimmed 5-15 mm extend position.
A 10 mm stop-screw window lets a fixture builder dial the eject stroke between 5 and 15 mm without changing cylinders, inside a body about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.
About 3 kg of practical vertical lift at a 2:1 margin suits pressing labels onto cartons or pouches on a benchtop line running at 30-500 mm/s.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest size in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for a 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for a 20 mm bore, so step up if your load needs more than about 3 kg of vertical lift. The 10 mm adjustment window shortens the 15 mm extend stroke on site; it is a mechanical end stop only, so on air loss the piston still drifts - do not use it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ12X15 as the current-production replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. In practice plan on about 34 N (roughly 60% of the push rating), which is about 3 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, port M5x0.8, rod thread M3x0.5 female.
The ACPJ family is out of production. The current drop-in is the ACEJ12X15 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same 12 mm bore, 15 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short-body format. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and the FA/FB or LB mounting interface before swapping. The -S magnet on this unit carries over as an option on the ACEJ, enabling CMSE / DMSE switches.
