This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X15-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X15-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X15-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 15mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X15-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke, the ACPJ12X15-10SB carries a 12 mm bore and a 15 mm stroke that an external stop screw trims by up to 10 mm, giving a usable extend range of 5-15 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N on the extend stroke at 0.7 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
The B code gives a male 6 mm rod thread, and the S code means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be clamped on for end-of-stroke sensing. Plan on about 34 N (roughly 3 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 56.5 N rating. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X15, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series was built to a DIN-standard footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X15-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X15-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×15 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 5-15 mm trimmed extend range nudges finished clips or bushings off a mold face, with the fitted magnet and a CMSE switch confirming the eject position each cycle.
A 15 mm probe stroke verifies a PCB or connector is seated in a test nest; the male rod thread takes a threaded sensor tip directly, and DMSE switches flag retraction.
About 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa holds foam or rubber gasket material in a fixture without crushing it, inside the compact envelope of a short-body cylinder.
For a 15 mm stroke class task, compare the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) if you need more force, or step up to the 20 mm bore (157.1 N) for heavier clamping. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock: on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate valve or lock if holding matters. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings plus I/Y rod knuckles bolt to the standard face. Order the ACEJ12X15 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. For sizing, keep real work near 34 N (about 0.6 of the push figure), which corresponds to lifting roughly 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed is 30-500 mm/s.
The -10 code sets a 10 mm window: a stop screw shortens the 15 mm extend stroke to any value from 5 to 15 mm, but it is a mechanical end stop only, not a load-holding brake. This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches mount on the body for position signals. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the ACEJ12X15 is the current ISO 21287 drop-in, so verify mounting dimensions before ordering.
