This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X15-20 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X15-20 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X15-20 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 15mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X15-20 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X15-20 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 15 mm stroke on site within the ordered 20 mm window, giving a usable range of 0-15 mm. At the 12 mm bore it delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
In practice, plan on roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rated force), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for small covers, chutes or light fixtures. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and a female M3x0.5 rod thread with M5x0.8 ports. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X15, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X15-20 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X15-20 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×15 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick lightweight molded caps or bushings off a benchtop mold, and the 0-15 mm trimmed stroke keeps the ejector travel exactly where the part needs it.
The short body, roughly half the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits inside a slim guard door frame, though sensing requires the -S magnet code since this unit ships without a magnet.
With about 2.9 kg of vertical-lift equivalent at a 2:1 margin, the 12 mm bore nudges small cartons or blister packs off a conveyor edge at 30-500 mm/s without oversizing the fixture.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for the 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for the 20 mm bore, so step up if your part weight or clamp force approaches 3 kg. The 15 mm stroke sits well inside the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so no made-to-order stroke is needed. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not lock the piston mid-stroke, and on air loss the rod still drifts, so add an external stop if you must hold position. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot; the rod end is female M3x0.5 (choose the B code for a male thread). No magnet is fitted on this code, so position switches cannot be used - order the -S variant if you need CMSE / DMSE sensing. This model is discontinued; the ACEJ12X15 is the drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; the theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code sets a 20 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 15 mm extend stroke on site, so the usable range is 0-15 mm. It runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, with M5x0.8 ports and a female M3x0.5 rod thread.
It is an ISO 21287-class short-body cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting that bolts into standard fixtures - about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The bumpers only decelerate at the ends and never hold a load. No magnet is fitted unless you order the -S code, which enables CMSE / DMSE switches. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X15, and you should confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping because the ACP series is DIN-standard.
