This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-100 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-100 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-100 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-100 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X150-100 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke down by up to 100 mm, giving a usable range of 50-150 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. The 150 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters in slim pick-and-place heads and compact test rigs. A practical sizing tip: plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rated push), which corresponds to lifting about 2 kg vertically with margin. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and the rod end is female M3x0.5 with M5x0.8 ports.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-100 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-100 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trimming the stroke from 50 to 150 mm lets one cylinder eject finished 2 kg-class parts from a small jig without repositioning the tooling.
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa seats a small test plug into a ported housing, and the adjustable stop sets clamping depth per product variant.
The short body fits where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would overhang the conveyor frame, nudging lightweight cartons at 30-500 mm/s.
Size both ways: the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while stepping down is not possible below 12 mm in this family. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not hold a load if air is lost, so add external locking for suspended parts. This unit has no magnet fitted (no -S code), so CMSE or DMSE switches cannot be used; order an -S variant if sensing is needed. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings suit fixture work. Before ordering, confirm the ACEJ12X150 replacement matches your ISO 21287 mounting dimensions, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the port is M5x0.8. The 150 mm stroke is made to order because the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke within the ordered 100 mm window, so the effective range is 50-150 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 150 mm. The stop is not a load-holding device - the piston drifts if air is lost. This model is discontinued; order the ACEJ12X150, the current drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class, and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
