This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-10B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This compact cylinder is double acting, with air driving the rod in both directions, and its -10 code adds a 10 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the 150 mm extend stroke on site, giving a usable range of 140-150 mm. With a 12 mm bore it delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. The 150 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X150.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters in slim fixtures and guarded cells. A practical sizing rule: plan on about 34 N (0.6 x 56.5 N) of real work at 0.5 MPa, which is roughly 3 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and the B code gives a male rod thread. No magnet is fitted, so position switches cannot be used unless the -S magnet variant is ordered.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-10B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-10B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick lightweight molded caps or bushings off a fixture, and the 140-150 mm trim range lets you tune the eject position without shimming.
With the body about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, a 12 mm bore unit slides into tight Z-axes on electronics assembly heads where full-length cylinders cannot fit.
A 3 kg-class vertical lift capacity suits holding small sample trays or probe fixtures, and the male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to custom tooling plates.
At 12 mm bore this is the lightest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for a 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for a 20 mm bore. If your part weight exceeds about 3 kg vertical, step up a bore size. The 10 mm window only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot, and the male rod thread suits I/Y knuckles. Since this model is discontinued, order ACEJ12X150 as the drop-in and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 150 mm extend stroke to as little as 140 mm. The 150 mm stroke is a made-to-order build because the standard maximum for a 12 mm bore is 50 mm. This model is discontinued - ACEJ12X150 is the current replacement.
It is a compact short-body cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, M5x0.8 ports, PT thread and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. It runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), 30-500 mm/s, from -20 to +70 C. This version has no magnet, so CMSE or DMSE switches cannot be mounted; order the -S magnet variant for sensing. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings fit the standard face, and ACEJ12X150 is the drop-in successor - confirm ISO 21287 dimensions before swapping.
