This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X150-10SB is a discontinued double acting compact cylinder with a 10 mm adjustable-stroke window: a stop screw trims the 150 mm extend stroke down to 140 mm on site. It is a DIN-standard short-body unit, roughly 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a hard-anodized aluminium body, an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod and a fixed TPU bumper at each end. The 150 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for a 12 mm bore, so this unit is made to order.
At 0.5 MPa the bore pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Plan on roughly 34 N (about 3.5 kg) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating. The -S code fitted here carries the optional magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted; the B code gives a male rod thread. For new projects order the current-production ACEJ12X150, the ISO 21287 drop-in successor, and confirm its mounting dimensions first.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted -S magnet lets a CMSE switch confirm full extension before a robot picks the part, while the stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke to 140 mm to match the fixture depth.
About 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa holds lightweight boards in test nests without over-compression, and the short body fits inside the guard where a full-length cylinder will not.
The 6 mm male-thread rod drives a sample tray through a 140-150 mm adjustable range at 30-500 mm/s, with the M5x0.8 port keeping tubing runs tight.
Size both ways: the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while stepping down is not possible because 12 mm is the smallest ACPJ bore. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke within the 10 mm window and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate holding valve if the load must stay put. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. This model is discontinued; the ACEJ12X150 is the current replacement in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; the theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. For real work plan on about 34 N (roughly 3.5 kg) at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
The -10 code is a 10 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the 150 mm extend stroke to any length from 140 to 150 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 150 mm. The ACPJ family is discontinued, so order the ACEJ12X150 - the ISO 21287 current-production successor in the same bore, stroke and force class - and confirm its mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
