This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-20SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-20SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-20SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-20SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting compact cylinder carries the -S magnet and a male rod thread on a 12 mm bore with a 150 mm made-to-order stroke. The -20 code gives a 20 mm adjustment window, so an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 130-150 mm range on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot.
Plan on about 34 N (roughly 3.5 kgf) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, and expect it to lift about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body pairs with an S45C hard-chrome rod and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, running 30-500 mm/s on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X150, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP family was built to a DIN-standard footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-20SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-20SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted -S magnet lets a CMSE switch confirm the trimmed 130-150 mm extend position, while the stop screw dials the push-off travel to clear a 40 mm-deep fixture pocket.
About 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa is enough to hold a circuit board against locating pins, and the short body fits inside the fixture lid where a full-length cylinder will not.
The male rod thread drives a small slide that advances a sample vial about 2.9 kg equivalent vertical load, with the M5x0.8 ports keeping tubing runs tidy in tight panels.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: the 16 mm bore pushes 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa and the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N, so step up if 56.5 N is marginal for your load. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke within the 20 mm window and drifts on air loss, so it is not a mid-stroke lock for holding a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and because the -S magnet is fitted on this unit, CMSE or DMSE switches can be added directly. Order ACEJ12X150 as the current drop-in successor.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code sets a 20 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 150 mm extend stroke, giving a usable 130-150 mm range. The 150 mm stroke is non-standard for this 12 mm bore (standard tops out at 50 mm), so it is made to order. The stop is a mechanical end stop only and does not hold a load if air is lost.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X150, which matches the same 12 mm bore, 150 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short-body format. Because the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before ordering. This unit carries the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches, a male rod thread, PT ports at M5x0.8, and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends.
