This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-30B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-30B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-30B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-30B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X150-30B is a discontinued double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 120-150 mm. Air drives the piston in both directions, a fixed TPU bumper decelerates at each end, and the male rod thread (B code) suits external knuckles. This 150 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for the 12 mm bore, so it is a made-to-order build. The current-production drop-in is the ISO 21287 ACEJ12X150 - confirm the mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACPJ follows the older DIN-standard footprint.
At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Plan on roughly 34 N (about 3 kg of vertical lift) of real work rather than the full rating, which keeps a sensible margin on light pick-and-place loads. The hard-anodized aluminium body with S45C hard-chrome rod runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered air at 30-500 mm/s, and its short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-30B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-30B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 120-150 mm adjustable extend range lets a fixture builder dial in the exact clamp position on thin aluminium brackets, with 56.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa enough for light locating pins.
With about 3 kg of practical vertical lift at 0.5 MPa, the 12 mm bore suits raising connector housings or sensor caps between test stations inside a tight gantry.
A 30 mm trim window on a 150 mm stroke lets a technician re-position a microscope slide tray or sample carrier without changing the cylinder, at speeds from 30-500 mm/s.
Size by force first: if 56.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your part weight, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa); if you need less, there is no smaller ACPJ bore. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate holding valve for suspended loads. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches; this unit has no S code, so no magnet and no sensor mounting. For new designs, order the ACEJ12X150 instead.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code is a 30 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 150 mm extend stroke to as little as 120 mm. It is an end stop only - it never holds a load if air is lost. The 150 mm stroke is a made-to-order length, since the 12 mm bore tops out at 50 mm as a standard stroke.
The ACPJ family is no longer in production. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150, an ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class; confirm the mounting dimensions before swapping because the ACPJ uses the older DIN-standard footprint. As for sensing: this unit has no magnet because the -S code was not ordered, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be mounted. If you need position feedback, order the replacement with the magnet option.
