This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-30S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-30S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-30S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-30S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ12X150-30S is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 150 mm stroke. The -30 code sets a 30 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke on site, so the usable range is 120-150 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 150 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is made to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim pick-and-place heads and guarded test rigs. A practical sizing rule: plan for roughly 34 N (about 0.6 of the 0.5 MPa push) of real work, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The -S magnet is fitted on this unit, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted directly. Since the model is discontinued, order the current ACEJ12X150 as the drop-in successor and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-30S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-30S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 34 N usable push at 0.5 MPa clears small pressed terminals or clips off a die face, and the 120-150 mm trim range lets the toolsetter dial the eject position without shimming.
With about 2.9 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin, the rod raises reagent trays or sample carriers inside a narrow instrument housing where a full-length body would not fit.
The fitted -S magnet drives CMSE / DMSE switches, so the controller confirms the 120-150 mm extend position before the test fixture closes on the board.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for a 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for 20 mm. Step up a bore if your part weight or friction load approaches the 34 N usable figure. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not lock the piston, so on air loss the rod can still drift and an external brake is needed for load holding. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects specify the current-production ACEJ12X150 and verify the ISO 21287 footprint.
Replacement checklist
It runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The extend stroke is adjustable within the 30 mm window, giving 120-150 mm of travel.
It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and M5x0.8 ports; the body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The ACPJ family is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
