This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke by up to 30 mm on site, giving a usable range of 120-150 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa, 11.5 kgf theoretical maximum), enough for light clamping and positioning in tight fixtures. The 150 mm stroke is longer than the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build - plan lead time accordingly.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and only decelerates the piston at the extremes - it never locks or holds a load, so on air loss the rod drifts. Note this model carries no magnet (the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches). The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X150, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to eject small turned or milled parts off a locating pin, and the 30 mm trim window lets the operator dial the eject travel between 120 and 150 mm without changing the cylinder.
With about 2.9 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin, this bore suits lightweight gripper slides on slim gantries; the short body saves roughly half the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder in the Z axis.
Light pressing of vials, caps and sample trays needs only tens of newtons; the 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa covers it with headroom, and the FA flange bolts the cylinder flat against a compact backplate.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N). For real work plan on roughly 34 N - about 3.5 kg - rather than the full rating, and treat the vertical-lift equivalent as about 2.9 kg with a 2:1 margin. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only, not a mid-stroke lock. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot; the rod end is female M3x0.5 and ports are M5x0.8. Order the -S variant if you need magnet-based CMSE / DMSE sensing. Since ACPJ is discontinued, spec the ACEJ12X150 as the current-production equivalent and verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The ordered stroke is 150 mm and the -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window, so a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 120-150 mm range. The 150 mm stroke is non-standard for this bore (standard maximum is 50 mm), so it is made to order.
It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod, M5x0.8 ports and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends that only decelerates the piston at the ends. Position sensing requires the optional -S magnet code, which allows CMSE / DMSE switches; this model has no magnet fitted. The ACPJ is discontinued - the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X150, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
