This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-40B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-40B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-40B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-40B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting compact cylinder trims its extend stroke on site: the -40 stop screw shortens the 150 mm stroke by up to 40 mm, giving a usable 110-150 mm range. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Note the 150 mm stroke is a made-to-order length, since bore 12 tops out at 50 mm as a standard stroke.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding. A fixed TPU bumper pads both ends of travel, and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a male (B-code) thread. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the push rating), which lifts around 3 kg vertically with margin. This model is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X150, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-40B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-40B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -40 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 110-150 mm adjustable range and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clear lightweight plastic parts from micro-mold fixtures without overtravel.
A 6 mm rod with male thread and M5x0.8 ports fit compact analytical or packaging benches where a full-length profile cylinder will not.
About 3 kg of vertical lift equivalent at 0.5 MPa gives enough margin to fold light carton flaps on a semi-auto packing line.
At 56.5 N push (0.5 MPa) this 12 mm bore suits light clamping and positioning; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N) for heavier loads or down if space is tighter and force is not the limit. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop only - it does not hold a load if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face. If you need position sensing, the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches; this B-code unit has no magnet fitted. For new builds, order the ACEJ12X150 instead - this ACPJ is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -40 code is a 40 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 150 mm extend stroke to any setting between 110 and 150 mm. It is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. The 150 mm stroke is made to order, since 50 mm is the longest standard stroke for this bore.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X150 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same 12 mm bore, 150 mm stroke and force class. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ACEJ before swapping. This unit has no magnet fitted; on equivalent -S models the optional magnet works with CMSE / DMSE switches.
