This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-40S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-40S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-40S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-40S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting compact cylinder carries a 12 mm bore and a made-to-order 150 mm stroke with a 40 mm adjustment window, so an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in the 110-150 mm range on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
Plan on roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the rating), which corresponds to lifting around 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for small clamps, gates and light part transfer. The body is hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod, the rod end is female M3x0.5, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches for end-of-stroke sensing. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X150 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-40S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-40S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -40 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clears finished 20-40 g turned parts from a CNC jig, and the 110-150 mm adjustable range lets the operator dial the eject travel to the fixture depth without shimming.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE switches flag gate-open and gate-closed on an electronics test rig, while the 150 mm stroke swings a lightweight polycarbonate guard in a 60 mm deep frame.
At 30-500 mm/s the cylinder nudges misaligned cartons off a conveyor lane; about 1.7 kg of vertical-lift equivalent covers the side-shift load, and the TPU bumpers quiet the return stroke.
Size up if 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa is marginal: the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N at the same pressure. Size down to a fixed-stroke ACP if you never need to trim the stroke on site. The 150 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a non-standard, made-to-order build. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet lets you add CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, order the ACEJ12X150 replacement instead.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -40 code is a 40 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 150 mm extend stroke on site, giving a usable 110-150 mm range. It is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a load-holding brake. Port is M5x0.8, rod thread is female M3x0.5, and the 150 mm stroke is a made-to-order length (bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm).
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X150, which swaps the P for an E and matches the same 12 mm bore, 150 mm stroke and force class on the ISO 21287 short body that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The replacement keeps the FA/FB flange and LB foot mounting family, and the -S magnet option for CMSE / DMSE switches carries over.
