This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-40SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-40SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-40SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-40SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X150-40SB carries a 12 mm bore and a made-to-order 150 mm stroke trimmed by a 40 mm stop-screw window, giving a usable range of 110-150 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
Practical sizing: plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the rated push), which corresponds to lifting about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The male rod thread (B code) and the fitted -S magnet let CMSE or DMSE switches report position directly. Note this ACPJ model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X150 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP follows a DIN-standard footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-40SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-40SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to eject finished circuit boards from a test nest, and the 110-150 mm adjustable range lets a technician tune the eject travel without re-plumbing.
A 2.9 kg vertical-lift equivalent covers light flap-pressing duties, and the short body fits inside the narrow gantry of a semi-auto carton sealer.
With the fitted -S magnet and a CMSE switch, the machine PLC confirms gate-open and gate-closed positions across the trimmed 110-150 mm stroke at speeds of 30-500 mm/s.
Size both ways before committing: the 16 mm bore in this family delivers 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if your load sits near the 34 N working band of this 12 mm unit, while stepping down is not possible below 12 mm. The 150 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a non-standard, made-to-order length with longer lead time. The stop screw trims the extend stroke only within the ordered 40 mm window - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. Choose FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting to suit the fixture, and remember the magnet on this -S version enables CMSE/DMSE switches. For new projects, order the ACEJ12X150 replacement instead.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, and the 40 mm stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 110-150 mm band.
Order the ACEJ12X150, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 12 mm bore, 150 mm stroke and force class in a matching short body. Because the ACP follows a DIN-standard footprint, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and your FA/FB or LB bracket fit before swapping. The ACEJ also accepts the optional -S magnet code for CMSE/DMSE switches.
