This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-40 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-40 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-40 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-40 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X150-40 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke by up to 40 mm, giving a usable range of 110-150 mm. Air filtered to 40 um drives it across 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s, and at 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N. The 150 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150.
Its hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287 short build that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. With 56.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa, plan on roughly 34 N of real work (about a 3.4 kg vertical pull with margin) rather than the full rating. The rod ends in a female M3x0.5 thread, the port is M5x0.8, and a fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends. No magnet is fitted - the optional -S code is what enables CMSE / DMSE switch sensing.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-40 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-40 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -40 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 110-150 mm adjustable reach clears a 40 mm window of nest depths, and 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa is enough to push light plastic caps off a mold face.
The short ISO 21287 body saves about 50% of the length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fitting under low gantry rails; add the -S magnet code if CMSE / DMSE switch feedback is needed later.
Trim the extend stroke anywhere in the 110-150 mm range with the stop screw, delivering about 34 N of working force on vials or microplate lids at 0.5 MPa.
At 12 mm bore this is the lightest force step: 56.5 N push / 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, versus 100.5 N push from the 16 mm bore and 157.1 N from the 20 mm. If your part weight or clamp force sits near 34 N of working load, this size fits; step up to ACPJ16X for heavier work. The 40 mm window only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Since the ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X150 and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, port M5x0.8, rod thread M3x0.5 female. The 150 mm stroke is made to order since bore 12 tops out at 50 mm standard.
The -40 code is a 40 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere between 110 and 150 mm. It is a mechanical end stop only - it never holds a load if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X150 (same bore, stroke and force class). Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
