This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-50S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-50S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-50S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-50S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting compact cylinder trims its own extend stroke on site: the -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw sets any extend length between 100 and 150 mm on the 12 mm bore. Push force is 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N at 0.7 MPa) with pull at 42.4 N, and the body is a hard-anodized aluminium short build that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The 150 mm stroke is longer than the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order stroke. Note this ACPJ model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X150 in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Practical sizing: keep real work to roughly 34 N (about 0.6 of the push rating), which corresponds to lifting about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The -S magnet this model carries lets CMSE or DMSE reed or solid-state switches report end positions, and the fixed TPU bumpers at both ends simply decelerate the piston. Before swapping to the ACEJ, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions, since the ACP family was built to a DIN-standard footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-50S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-50S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100-150 mm adjustable reach reaches deep into a test rack, while 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa presses lightweight boards against pogo-pin blocks without damage.
With the -S magnet and CMSE switches, both end positions of the 6 mm rod are confirmed before the next station indexes, at speeds of 30-500 mm/s.
The 50 mm trim window lets technicians dial the extend stroke to seat vials or slides precisely, and the compact body fits inside benchtop instrument guards.
At 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, this 12 mm bore suits light clamping and positioning; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push) or 20 mm bore (157.1 N push) if the load grows. The 50 mm window fits jigs where the final stroke is tuned during commissioning, and the adjuster is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it never holds a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the fitted -S magnet pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches. Since this model is discontinued, order ACEJ12X150 as the current replacement and verify mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull is 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The bore is 12 mm with a 6 mm rod, M3x0.5 female rod thread, M5x0.8 ports, operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and a fixed TPU bumper at each end. The 150 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere within the ordered 50 mm window, giving a usable range of 100-150 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 150 mm and it is not a mid-stroke lock. This ACPJ is discontinued - the current-production successor is ACEJ12X150 (P swapped for E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short-body format. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap because the ACP was DIN-standard.
