This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-50 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-50 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-50 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-50 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window, so an external stop screw trims the 150 mm stroke anywhere in a 100-150 mm range on site. Air pushes the piston both ways, a fixed TPU bumper decelerates at each end, and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa.
The 150 mm stroke is a non-standard, made-to-order length (bore 12 tops out at 50 mm as a standard stroke), so expect factory production rather than shelf stock. In practice the 56.5 N push supports roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. Note: this model is discontinued - the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X150, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-50 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-50 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100-150 mm adjustable reach clears delicate stamped components off a die face, with 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa enough for parts under about 2.9 kg.
The 12 mm bore fits narrow analyser channels, and the stop screw lets technicians dial the extend stroke between 100 and 150 mm without changing hardware.
A 6 mm rod with M3x0.5 female thread picks up small knuckles to trip gates or flags at 30-500 mm/s in tight guard spaces.
At 12 mm bore you are at the light end of the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for a 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for a 20 mm bore, so step up if your part or clamp needs more than about 34 N of usable force. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and does not lock the piston - on air loss the rod still drifts, so add a separate holding method for suspended loads. This unit has no magnet (no S code), so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be fitted; order the -S version if position sensing is needed. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting suits small fixtures. Replacement: ACEJ12X150.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, port M5x0.8, rod 6 mm with M3x0.5 female thread. The 150 mm stroke is made to order and the extend stroke is trimmable by 50 mm via the stop screw.
Bore 12 has a 50 mm maximum standard stroke, so 150 mm is a non-standard, made-to-order length with longer lead time. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X150 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. Also note this version has no magnet, so CMSE or DMSE switches require the -S code.
