This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X150-75 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X150-75 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X150-75 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 150mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150-75 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder in the DIN-standard ACP family, the ACPJ12X150-75 pairs a 12 mm bore with a 150 mm stroke and a 75 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in the 75-150 mm range on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The 150 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X150.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end and speeds of 30-500 mm/s. In practice, plan for roughly 34 N (about 3.4 kg of thrust) of real work at 0.5 MPa, and expect it to lift about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. No magnet is fitted, so position switches cannot be used unless you order the optional -S magnet version.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X150-75 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X150-75 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×150 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick light sprues or finished caps off a mould table, and the 75-150 mm adjustable reach lets one cylinder serve several mould heights.
With about 2.9 kg of vertical lift capability at a 2:1 margin, it presses microplate lids or seals sample trays in compact benchtop instruments where space is scarce.
The trimmed extend stroke stops the rod exactly at the flap, and the fixed TPU bumpers decelerate the 6 mm rod gently at each end during 30-500 mm/s cycling.
Size against neighbours: the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while stepping down is not possible below 12 mm in this family. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not lock the piston mid-stroke, so on air loss the rod can drift; do not use it to hold a load. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot on the standard face. This unit is discontinued; order the ACEJ12X150 and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -75 code gives a 75 mm adjustment window, so the external stop screw can trim the 150 mm extend stroke anywhere down to 75 mm. The 150 mm stroke is a made-to-order length because the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod, an M5x0.8 air port, a female M3x0.5 rod thread and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends, running on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered air. Its body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The model is discontinued: the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X150, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before you swap. Position sensing needs the optional -S magnet ordered with CMSE or DMSE switches; this version has no magnet fitted.
