This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X160-100S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X160-100S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X160-100S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 160mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X160-100S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X160-100S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere inside the 100 mm window, so the rod travels a usable 60-160 mm. Air works on both faces of the piston, and at 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N pushing and 42.4 N pulling; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N and 59.4 N. The 160 mm stroke is a non-standard, made-to-order length because bore 12 normally tops out at 50 mm. This model is discontinued, and the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X160 in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Built on a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod, the short ISO 21287-class format saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. The -S code on this model means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the body for end-of-stroke sensing. As a planning figure, expect about 34 N (roughly 3 kg lifted) of real work at 0.5 MPa once you keep a margin below the 56.5 N rating. Fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, speed runs 30-500 mm/s, and pressure spans 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X160-100S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X160-100S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×160 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted magnet plus a DMSE solid-state switch confirms the short trimmed stroke before a PLC releases the next part, ideal on 60-160 mm eject strokes in electronics fixture work.
The 100 mm adjustment window lets one operator reset the extend stop between carton heights on a small form-fill line without swapping cylinders.
With about 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, the 12 mm bore nudges vials or sample trays into a dosing position gently enough for delicate glassware.
At 12 mm bore this is the lightest force step in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N from a 16 mm bore and 157.1 N from a 20 mm bore, so step up if your load sits near the limit. The 100 mm adjust window suits stations where one cylinder must serve several product lengths; remember the stop is a mechanical end stop only, and the piston will drift if air is lost. The female M3x0.5 rod thread takes standard I/Y knuckles, FA flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the face, and the fitted -S magnet pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches. Before ordering, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ACEJ12X160 replacement, since the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; the theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -100 code gives a 100 mm adjustment window on the 160 mm stroke, so the extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere from 60 to 160 mm with the stop screw. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed is 30-500 mm/s, and the port is M5x0.8. Note the 160 mm stroke is a made-to-order length, since bore 12 standard strokes stop at 50 mm.
This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE reed or DMSE solid-state switches mount directly on the body for end-of-stroke signals. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X160, which keeps the same bore, stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short-body format. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, because the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint, and check the rod-end hardware against the female M3x0.5 thread.
