This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X160-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X160-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X160-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 160mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X160-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable in stroke, this discontinued ACPJ12X160-10S pairs a 12 mm bore with a 160 mm made-to-order stroke and a 10 mm trim window, so a stop screw sets the usable extend range anywhere between 150 and 160 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 160 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is produced to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits slim guards and tight jigs. Because the -S magnet is fitted on this unit, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the hard-anodized aluminium body. For sizing, treat about 34 N (0.6 x 56.5 N) as the realistic working force, which lifts roughly 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X160 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X160-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X160-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×160 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted -S magnet lets a CMSE switch confirm full extension of the 150-160 mm trimmed stroke on a small assembly fixture, cutting misload rejects.
With about 34 N of practical force at 0.5 MPa, the 12 mm bore seats small terminals and plastic clips without crushing them.
The short body, about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, drives a 160 mm sliding guard inside a narrow machine frame.
At 56.5 N push (0.5 MPa) this 12 mm bore suits light clamping and small-part ejection; step down is not available below bore 12, while the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N if your load needs more. The stop screw trims the extend stroke only - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting bolts to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ12X160 as the current replacement and verify ISO 21287 hole patterns first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code is a 10 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 160 mm extend stroke, giving a usable range of 150-160 mm. It shortens the stroke only and does not hold a load on air loss. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 160 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X160 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class; confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping since the ACP is DIN-standard. This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke signalling. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt to the standard face, the rod end is female M3x0.5, the port is M5x0.8 PT, and a fixed TPU bumper decelerates the piston at both ends.
