The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X160-50SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 160mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X160-50SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This discontinued AirTAC model is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -50 stop screw trims the 160 mm stroke by up to 50 mm on site, giving a usable range of 110-160 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 160 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Because the -S code is fitted here, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped to the body for end-of-stroke sensing. A practical sizing rule: plan on roughly 34 N (about 3.4 kg of force) of real work at 0.5 MPa, and expect it to lift about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. For new projects, order the current-production ACEJ12X160, which matches this bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not lock the piston mid-stroke, and on air loss the rod still drifts, so add a separate holding valve if the load must stay put. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. This model is discontinued; the ACEJ12X160 is the drop-in successor in the same force class.

The -50 code adds a stop screw that shortens the extend stroke by up to 50 mm, so the rod can be set anywhere in a 110-160 mm window; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 160 mm. A fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the piston at the ends only and never holds or brakes a load. Because the -S magnet is fitted, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted on the body for position signals.
