This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X160-50 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X160-50 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X160-50 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 160mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X160-50 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X160-50 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 160 mm stroke by up to 50 mm on site, giving a usable range of 110-160 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. In practice plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that the 160 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build.
This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X160, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACPJ follows the DIN-standard footprint. The short ISO 21287 body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and the fixed TPU bumper at each end absorbs end-of-travel shock. The rod carries a female M3x0.5 thread, the ports are M5x0.8, and no magnet is fitted - the optional -S code is required for CMSE / DMSE switch sensing.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X160-50 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

The ACEJ12X160-50 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa and 110-160 mm adjustable range suit nudging finished clips or caps off a mold table, with the stop screw tuned per mold change.
A 160 mm stroke covers lateral movement of a light fixture gate; add the -S magnet code and a CMSE switch to confirm gate-closed before a pick cycle.
The 2.8 kg vertical-lift equivalent and M5x0.8 ports fit compact sample trays, where the short ISO 21287 body saves about 50% of the length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.
At 12 mm this is the smallest bore in the family; if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your jig, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N). The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke within the 50 mm window and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so add an external stop if position must hold. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Order the -S variant if you need the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches, and specify ACEJ12X160 for new builds since this model is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window, so the 160 mm extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere from 110 to 160 mm with the stop screw. The 160 mm stroke is a made-to-order build because the bore 12 maximum standard stroke is 50 mm.
It is a compact ISO 21287-class cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, female M3x0.5 rod thread, M5x0.8 ports, a fixed TPU bumper at both ends, and speed of 30-500 mm/s over 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). No magnet is fitted unless the optional -S code is ordered, which then accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. The model is discontinued - the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X160; confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
