This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X160-75B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X160-75B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.
The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X160-75B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 160mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X160-75B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ12X160-75B is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 160 mm stroke trimmed by a 75 mm stop-screw window, so the extend stroke can be set anywhere from 85 to 160 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body and S45C hard-chrome rod keep the short build rigid, and the 160 mm stroke is non-standard, so it is made to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot fit. Plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the push rating), enough to lift about 2 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model has no magnet fitted, since the -S code was not ordered, so CMSE / DMSE switches cannot be used; the male B rod thread and PT ports are standard here. For new projects order the current ACEJ12X160 and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X160-75B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X160-75B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×160 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trim the extend stroke between 85 and 160 mm to seat nylon bushings or terminals in electronics assembly fixtures, using about 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa.
The short body, about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, drives light guards or chutes where a full-length body will not fit; add the -S magnet code if position feedback is needed.
With a 6 mm male-thread rod and M5x0.8 ports, the cylinder lifts about 2 kg vertically with margin, enough for small vial racks or shutter plates on test benches.
Size both ways: the bore 16 ACPJ gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while staying at bore 12 keeps the footprint smallest. The 75 mm window only shortens the extend stroke from 160 mm; it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet is required if you later want CMSE / DMSE switch feedback. This model is discontinued; the drop-in successor is ACEJ12X160 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting, runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air filtered to 40 um, proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. The 160 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard for bore 12, so it is made to order, and the -75 code allows trimming the extend stroke by up to 75 mm.
Only if the optional -S magnet is ordered; this version has no magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches cannot be mounted. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X160 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
