This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X160-75S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X160-75S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.
The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X160-75S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 160mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X160-75S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X160-75S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 160 mm stroke by up to 75 mm, giving a usable range of 85-160 mm. This 12 mm bore unit delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 160 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. Note the model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X160, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
The short ISO 21287 body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. Because the -S code is on this unit, the magnet is fitted and CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing. As a planning figure, treat roughly 34 N (about 0.6 of the 56.5 N push) as usable work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and the female M3x0.5 rod thread with M5x0.8 ports keeps plumbing simple.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X160-75S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X160-75S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×160 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The trimmed 85-160 mm extend range lets one cylinder serve several shallow mold cavities, with 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa enough to kick light sprues and parts clear of the die face.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm full seat on electronics test rigs, while the 34 N usable push clamps PCB carriers without damaging components.
About 2.9 kg of vertical lift equivalent gives a gentle press for snap-fitting small housings, and the compact short body fits under a bench gantry where a full-length cylinder cannot.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal, step up to bore 16 for 100.5 N; if the load is lighter, bore 12 is already the smallest in this family. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke within the 75 mm window - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face. This model is discontinued; order ACEJ12X160 as the drop-in successor and verify the mounting footprint against ISO 21287 drawings.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -75 code gives a 75 mm adjustment window, so the 160 mm extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere in an 85-160 mm range via the external stop screw. The 160 mm stroke is a made-to-order length because the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s and operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).
The ACPJ family is out of production; ACEJ12X160 is the current ISO 21287 drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the mounting dimensions against ISO 21287 drawings before swapping, since the ACP was DIN-standard. This unit already carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE reed or DMSE solid-state switches mount directly for end-of-stroke detection. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings, the fixed TPU end bumpers and the M5x0.8 ports carry over in concept to the replacement.
