This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X160-75SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X160-75SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.
The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X160-75SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 160mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X160-75SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ12X160-75SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 160 mm stroke by up to 75 mm, giving a usable range of 85-160 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 160 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. Note: this model is discontinued - the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X160, same bore, stroke and force class; confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures, guards and small gantries. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod with a male external thread (B code), and the -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing. Running on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), it cycles at 30-500 mm/s between -20 and +70 C. For sizing, plan on roughly 34 N (about 3 kg vertical lift with a 2:1 margin) of usable push at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 56.5 N rating.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X160-75SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X160-75SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×160 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 85-160 mm trim range lets a technician dial the exact eject stroke for shallow trays of electronic connectors, with 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa enough for light plastic parts.
With the fitted -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm extend and retract on a PCB press-check station, cycling at 30-500 mm/s between fixed TPU bumpers.
The short body, roughly half the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits hold-down clamping of small aluminium brackets where a full-length cylinder will not reach.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa is more than your jig needs, the bore 12 class is already the smallest in this family; if you need roughly double the force, step up to bore 16 (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa). The 75 mm window only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost; do not use it to hold a load. Mounting options include FA/FB flange and LB foot on the ISO 21287 face. Because this unit is discontinued, order ACEJ12X160 as the drop-in successor and verify the mounting dimensions against your fixture first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. In practice, plan on about 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting roughly 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 safety margin.
The -75 code is a 75 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 160 mm extend stroke on site to any length from 85 mm to 160 mm. It is an end stop only - it never holds a load if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X160 (same bore, stroke and force class). Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
