This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X160-75 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X160-75 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X160-75 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 160mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X160-75 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder in the discontinued AirTAC ACPJ series, with a 12 mm bore, a 160 mm stroke and a 75 mm adjustment window. An external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in the 85-160 mm range, so one unit can be tuned on the machine instead of ordering several fixed lengths. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, and the theoretical peak is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 160 mm stroke is longer than the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build.
The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters in slim gantries and guarded stations. A fixed TPU bumper sits at each end. Plan on about 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note there is no magnet fitted (the -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches), and the ACPJ is discontinued: the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X160, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X160-75 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X160-75 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×160 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 34 N usable push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick light plastic clips or stamped contacts off a nest, and the 85-160 mm adjustable range lets one cylinder serve several fixture depths.
A 12 mm bore with an M5x0.8 port and 30-500 mm/s speed suits presenting vials or slides into a compact analyser where a full-length profile cylinder will not fit.
With about 50% shorter mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, the 160 mm stroke slides light interlock gates inside machine guards where space is scarce.
Size both ways: the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N feels marginal, while stepping down is not possible since 12 mm is the smallest ACPJ bore. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can still drift on air loss. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings suit the 12 mm face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switch positioning. Because this model is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X160 as the current-production equivalent and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -75 code means a 75 mm window: the stop screw trims the 160 mm extend stroke down to 85 mm minimum. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 160 mm stroke is a made-to-order length since the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
It is an ISO 21287-class compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod, a female M3x0.5 rod thread and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. Position sensing needs the optional -S magnet code; without it no CMSE or DMSE switch can be mounted. This ACPJ model is discontinued, so for new projects specify the ACEJ12X160 replacement and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap.
