This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X175-100B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X175-100B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X175-100B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 175mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175-100B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This discontinued AirTAC model is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -100 code gives a 100 mm stop-screw window, so the 175 mm stroke can be trimmed anywhere down to 75 mm on site. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Because the short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, it slots into cramped fixtures where a full-length body cannot.
The 175 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. At 0.5 MPa, plan on about 34 N (roughly 3.4 kg) of real work, which lifts about 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for small covers, chutes or sensor flags. The male rod thread (B code) suits knuckle accessories, and the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X175; confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X175-100B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X175-100B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×175 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 75-175 mm trim range lets one cylinder serve several fixture heights, pushing light plastic housings off a nest with about 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa.
A rod-mounted flag trips a photoelectric sensor on a packaging line; with the optional -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE switches add an electrical position signal.
Lifts about 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - suited to raising a 1 kg acrylic guard or sampling gate inside a compact instrument frame.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa is marginal, the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push in the same short body; if the load is lighter and space is tighter, the same 12 mm bore in a shorter standard stroke may suffice. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so on air loss the piston still drifts. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot, and the optional -S magnet (not fitted on this code) is what enables CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, order the current ACEJ12X175 instead.
Replacement checklist
Bore 12 mm, stroke 175 mm (made to order; standard max for this bore is 50 mm), rod 6 mm, M5x0.8 ports, PT body thread, male rod thread. Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um.
The -100 code adds a stop screw that shortens the extend stroke by up to 100 mm, giving a usable 75-175 mm range; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 175 mm and it does not hold a load on air loss. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X175 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP series is DIN-standard.
