This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X175-100S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X175-100S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X175-100S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 175mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175-100S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X175-100S carries a 12 mm bore and a 175 mm stroke that can be trimmed by up to 100 mm with the external stop screw, giving a usable range of 75-175 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures where a full-length body will not fit.
The 175 mm stroke is longer than the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for a 12 mm bore, so this unit is made to order. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and only decelerates the piston at the ends; it never locks or holds a load. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X175-100S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X175-100S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×175 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trims the 175 mm stroke down to 75-175 mm to clamp PCB brackets or machined fittings of varying heights; the 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light hold-down jigs.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm the trimmed extend position before the next cycle starts on a small-parts feeder.
The short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and the 12 mm bore can lift roughly 3.5 kg vertically at 0.5 MPa with margin.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If the load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N). For real work, plan on roughly 34 N (about 0.6 of the push rating), which corresponds to lifting about 3.5 kg vertically - halve that again for a 2:1 margin on a vertical lift. The -100 window suits jobs where the final extend position is set on site, such as clamping different part heights. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and I/Y rod knuckles fit the M3x0.5 female rod thread. Order the ACEJ12X175 for current production and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -100 code is a 100 mm adjustment window: the stop screw shortens the 175 mm extend stroke by up to 100 mm, so the usable range is 75-175 mm. The 175 mm stroke is non-standard for a 12 mm bore (max standard 50 mm), so it is made to order. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the rod end has a female M3x0.5 thread with M5x0.8 ports.
It is a compact short-body cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and air filtered to 40 um as the fluid. The body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X175 (same bore, stroke and force class) - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
