This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X175-100 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X175-100 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.
The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X175-100 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 175mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175-100 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X175-100 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: an external stop screw trims the 175 mm stroke by up to 100 mm, giving a usable range of 75-175 mm. At 0.5 MPa this 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. The 175 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X175.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Because about 60% of the push force is a realistic working figure, plan on roughly 34 N of usable thrust at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 1.7 kg vertically - enough for small caps, sensors or light slides. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the female M3x0.5 rod thread plus PT ports keep plumbing simple.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X175-100 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X175-100 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×175 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
On a small electronics inspection station, the 75-175 mm adjustable range lets the stop screw be set so the rod nudges rejected PCBs off the belt with about 34 N of usable thrust at 0.5 MPa.
In a compact analytical sampler, the 12 mm bore's 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa advances a sample tray, and the short body fits inside the instrument housing where a profile cylinder would not.
On a pharmaceutical packaging line, the trimmed extend stroke positions a lightweight indexing stop, lifting about 1.7 kg vertically with margin, at speeds of 30-500 mm/s.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N). The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches; this code has no S, so no magnet is fitted. Order ACEJ12X175 as the current drop-in and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, fluid air filtered to 40 um, temperature -20 to +70 C. Port is M5x0.8, rod thread female M3x0.5, rod 6 mm, and the 175 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore.
The -100 code means a 100 mm adjustment window: a stop screw at the head end shortens the 175 mm extend stroke by up to 100 mm, so you can set any usable stroke from 75 to 175 mm on site. The fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at the ends only and never hold or brake a load. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X175 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
