This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X175-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X175-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X175-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 175mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -10 code gives a 10 mm stop-screw window, so the 175 mm stroke can be trimmed anywhere from 165 to 175 mm on site. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. Note that the 175 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so this unit is made to order. This ACPJ model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X175, the ISO 21287 successor in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Built around a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod, the short ISO 21287-style body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters in slim gantries and guarded test rigs. The -S magnet this model carries lets you bolt on CMSE or DMSE reed or solid-state switches for end-of-stroke signalling. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and the rod ends in a female M3x0.5 thread. In practice, plan for about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rated push), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X175-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X175-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×175 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 165-175 mm trimmable stroke and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suit small sample-clamping fixtures on benchtop test rigs where a full-length cylinder will not fit.
With the fitted -S magnet driving CMSE or DMSE switches, the 12 mm bore gives positive confirmation when light PCB trays of about 2.9 kg are pushed clear of a nest.
The 10 mm stop-screw window lets a technician dial the extend stroke between 165 and 175 mm to match lane widths without changing the cylinder.
Size both ways before committing: the 16 mm bore pushes 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while stepping down is not possible because 12 mm is the smallest ACPJ bore. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a mid-stroke lock or load-holding brake. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings plus I/Y rod knuckles bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order ACEJ12X175 as the current drop-in and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N, and theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, fluid air filtered to 40 um. The 175 mm stroke is non-standard for the 12 mm bore (50 mm max standard) and is made to order, with a 10 mm adjustable window (165-175 mm usable).
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 10 mm inside the ordered window, giving 165-175 mm of travel; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 175 mm and it does not hold a load on air loss. The ACPJ family is discontinued - order ACEJ12X175, the current ISO 21287 drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class, and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first because the ACP is DIN-standard.
