This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X175-20B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X175-20B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X175-20B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 175mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175-20B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting compact cylinder trims its extend stroke on site: the -20 code gives a 20 mm stop-screw window, so the 175 mm stroke is usable anywhere from 155 to 175 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 175 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X175.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which suits slim pick-and-place heads and guarded test rigs. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and the male rod thread (B code) takes an external knuckle directly. Plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly a 2.8 kg vertical lift with a 2:1 margin) rather than the full rating. No magnet is fitted - the optional -S code is required before CMSE / DMSE switches can be used.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X175-20B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X175-20B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×175 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 155-175 mm adjustable reach presses small sensors or PCBs into a test nest, with 56.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa enough for light contact and seating checks.
A 6 mm male-thread rod drives a knock-off pin that nudges 2-3 kg parts free of a compact jig, using the stop screw to fine-tune ejector travel.
The short body fits beside a narrow conveyor frame where a full-length profile cylinder will not, deflecting small cartons between lanes at 30-500 mm/s.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family; step up to 16 mm for 100.5 N push or 20 mm for 157.1 N at 0.5 MPa if the load needs more margin. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and does not lock position - on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate clamp if holding matters. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings fit the ISO 21287 face. For new designs, order ACEJ12X175 and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 20 mm adjustment window on the 175 mm stroke, an M5x0.8 port, male rod thread, 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) operating pressure and 30-500 mm/s speed. The 175 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X175, which swaps the P for an E and matches the same bore, stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short-body format. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. Also note no magnet is fitted on this version; the optional -S code is what enables CMSE / DMSE switch mounting.
