This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X175-20 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X175-20 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X175-20 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 175mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175-20 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting compact cylinder from AirTAC's ACPJ line works on a 12 mm bore with a 175 mm stroke and a 20 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 155-175 mm range on site. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 56.5 N of push and 42.4 N of pull, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The 175 mm stroke is longer than the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175 in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits slim slides, guarding gates and fixture clamps. In practice, plan on about 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s. No magnet is fitted on this code, so position sensing is unavailable unless the -S variant is ordered.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X175-20 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X175-20 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×175 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa seats small circuit boards into a test nest, and the 155-175 mm adjustable range lets technicians fine-tune the press depth without re-plumbing.
With a body about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, it latches slim machine guards where a full-length actuator would not fit behind the panel.
Pushing finished bushings off a fixture, the 12 mm bore lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with margin, and the M5x0.8 ports keep the manifold footprint tiny.
At 56.5 N push (0.5 MPa) this bore 12 unit handles light clamping and part-presenting duty; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push) if the load needs roughly double the force, or drop to a smaller actuator only if the 12 mm class is already oversized. Remember the stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches. Since ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X175 as the drop-in successor and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull is 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code gives a 20 mm adjustment window, so the extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere between 155 and 175 mm with the external stop screw. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed is 30-500 mm/s, and the 175 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore.
It is a short-body ISO 21287-class actuator with a hard-anodized aluminium body, an S45C hard-chrome rod on a 6 mm piston rod, M5x0.8 ports, a female M3x0.5 rod thread and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke; it does not hold a load if air is lost. No magnet is included on this code, so CMSE / DMSE switches require the optional -S version. The ACPJ line is discontinued: the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X175, and buyers should confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
