This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X175-30B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X175-30B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X175-30B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 175mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175-30B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This discontinued ACPJ12X175-30B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -30 code gives a 30 mm stop-screw window, so the 175 mm stroke can be trimmed anywhere between 145 and 175 mm on site. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), running on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with a speed range of 30-500 mm/s.
The 175 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build - plan lead time accordingly. In practice the 56.5 N push supports roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and this model is discontinued: the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X175, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X175-30B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X175-30B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×175 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 30 mm stop window lets a lab fixture trim the extend stroke between 145 and 175 mm to clear a 2 kg part tray without repositioning the cylinder.
With about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, the short body slides into a narrow slide-gate bracket where a full-length body will not fit.
Roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa seats microtiter plate lids or small sensor caps gently, with the fixed TPU bumper softening both ends.
At 12 mm bore you are at the bottom of the ACPJ range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If the load needs more, the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N at the same pressure. The 30 mm adjustment window suits fixtures where the final extend position is tuned after installation; remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and does not hold a load if air is lost. The B code gives a male 6 mm rod thread and the port is M5x0.8. No magnet is fitted (no S code), so if you need CMSE / DMSE switches, order the -S version instead. For new projects, specify the ACEJ12X175 replacement.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 175 mm stroke adjustable down to 145 mm via the 30 mm window, a 6 mm male rod thread, M5x0.8 ports, 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) operating pressure, 30-500 mm/s speed and fixed TPU bumpers both ends. The 175 mm stroke is made to order.
An external stop screw on the head shortens the extend stroke by up to 30 mm within the ordered window - it trims the stroke, it never extends it, and it is a mechanical stop rather than a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP follows the DIN-standard footprint.
