This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X175-30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X175-30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X175-30SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 175mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175-30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X175-30SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -30 stop screw trims the 175 mm stroke down to 145 mm on site, so one cylinder covers a 145-175 mm working range. Air pushes the rod out and pulls it back, delivering 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. The 175 mm stroke is longer than the 50 mm standard maximum for a 12 mm bore, so this unit is made to order. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175 in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits slim fixtures and tight gantries. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a fixed TPU bumper at each end, and the S45C hard-chrome rod ends in a male thread (B code). Because the S code is ordered, the magnet is fitted and CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted directly. In practice, plan on roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of rating), which lifts around 3 kg vertically - enough for small covers, sensors or light parts in test rigs.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X175-30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X175-30SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×175 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Ejects small sample trays from a test fixture; the 145-175 mm adjustable range lets technicians fine-tune the push-off point without changing cylinders.
Swings or lifts a light gate arm on a compact camera-check station; the fitted magnet with a CMSE switch confirms extend and retract positions in a tight envelope.
Presses nylon bushings off a mandrel in an electronics assembly cell, using about 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa for repeatable light-duty ejection.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest ACPJ size: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N). Keep the 30 mm window only if your stroke genuinely varies between 145 and 175 mm; a fixed-stroke ACE would be simpler. The stop screw trims the extend stroke but is not a mid-stroke lock - the piston still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the male rod thread (B) suits external knuckles. Order the ACEJ12X175 as the current drop-in and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The base stroke is 175 mm and the -30 stop screw trims the extend stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable 145-175 mm range. The 175 mm stroke is a made-to-order length because the standard maximum for a 12 mm bore is 50 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed is 30-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287-class aluminium body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a hard-anodized barrel, an S45C hard-chrome rod and a fixed TPU bumper at each end. The B code gives a male rod thread, and the S code means the magnet is fitted on this model, so CMSE / DMSE switches can be added. This ACPJ is discontinued - order the ACEJ12X175 as the current replacement and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
