This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X175-50B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X175-50B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X175-50B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 175mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175-50B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X175-50B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -50 stop screw trims the 175 mm stroke down to 125 mm on site, so one unit covers a 125-175 mm working range. Air pushes the rod out and pulls it back, and a fixed TPU bumper at each end absorbs end-of-travel impact. This 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Note that 175 mm is a non-standard, made-to-order stroke for this bore, whose standard limit is 50 mm.
The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod keeps the short ISO 21287-class footprint, saving roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder - useful in slim fixtures and guarded cells. The B code gives a male rod thread (M3x0.5 on this bore) and the port is M5x0.8. A practical sizing rule: at 0.5 MPa plan on about 34 N of real work (roughly 3.4 kgf), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X175-50B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

The ACEJ12X175-50B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×175 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clears finished bushings or clips out of a die, and the 125-175 mm adjustable range lets one cylinder serve several die heights.
The short body fits where a full-length profile cylinder cannot, and the male M3x0.5 rod thread takes a standard knuckle for gripper tooling.
M5x0.8 ports, 30-500 mm/s speed and a 6 mm hard-chrome rod suit light dosing, sorting and test-rig motions on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) shop air.
Size against the load: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light clamping and small part transfer; if your load needs more, the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N at the same pressure. The 50 mm adjustment window means you can dial the extend stroke between 125 and 175 mm without changing hardware, but remember the stop screw is an end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a load-holding brake. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and if you need position sensing, order the -S variant, because this unit has no magnet fitted and no CMSE / DMSE switch can be mounted. For new projects, specify the ACEJ12X175 instead.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the port is M5x0.8. The 175 mm stroke is a made-to-order length, since the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 50 mm, giving a usable 125-175 mm range; it cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered 175 mm. The fixed TPU bumpers only decelerate at the ends and never lock or hold a load. The ACPJ family is discontinued - order the ACEJ12X175 as the current drop-in, and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap because the ACP is DIN-standard.
