This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X175-50 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X175-50 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X175-50 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 175mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175-50 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X175-50 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 175 mm stroke by up to 50 mm, giving a usable range of 125-175 mm on site. Bore 12 mm delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa, 11.5 kgf theoretical max at 1.0 MPa). The 175 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note: the ACPJ family is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X175 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
The hard-anodized aluminium body with S45C hard-chrome rod saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. In practice, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rating), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Fluid is air filtered to 40 um, pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. This version has no magnet; the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X175-50 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X175-50 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×175 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to strip tiny molded clips off a core pin, and the 125-175 mm adjustable range lets the molder tune the eject position without swapping the cylinder.
A 6 mm rod advancing sample vials into a cuvette reader fits the 2.9 kg vertical-lift class, and the short ISO 21287 body hides inside the analyzer chassis.
Folding light cardboard flaps needs only about 34 N of usable force; the LB foot mount bolts the cylinder alongside the conveyor frame where space is tight.
At 12 mm bore this is the lightest force class: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits small clamping and eject tasks; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push) or 20 mm bore (157.1 N push) if the load is heavier. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock - the piston still drifts if air is lost, so do not rely on it to hold a load. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot with a female M3x0.5 rod thread and PT ports. If you need position sensing, order the -S variant with the optional magnet. For new designs, specify the current ACEJ12X175 instead.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa it is 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting, runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, with an M5x0.8 port, female M3x0.5 rod thread and a 50 mm stroke adjustment window (125-175 mm usable).
The 50 mm standard maximum for a 12 mm bore means this 175 mm stroke is a made-to-order build, so lead time applies. The ACPJ family is discontinued; AirTAC's current replacement is the ISO 21287 ACEJ12X175, a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class. Verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before ordering the swap.
