This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X175-75SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X175-75SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X175-75SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 175mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175-75SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X175-75SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 175 mm stroke by up to 75 mm, giving a usable range of 100-175 mm. This 12 mm bore version carries the -S magnet code and the B male rod thread, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end. Note that the 175 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X175, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
At 0.5 MPa this bore pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Applying the usual 0.6 margin, plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which is about 3 kg of vertical lift. The hard-anodized aluminium short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it suits tight jigs and guarded stations. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X175-75SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X175-75SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×175 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to strip lightweight molded caps off a core pin, and the 100-175 mm adjustable range lets the operator dial the eject position without re-machining the fixture.
Because the -S magnet is fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm the end positions of the 175 mm stroke, and the compact short body tucks behind machine guards where a full-length cylinder will not fit.
About 3 kg of practical vertical force at 0.5 MPa suits light pressing of vials or coupons, with the male B rod thread and M5x0.8 ports making hose routing simple in cramped benchtop frames.
Size both ways before committing: bore 16 delivers 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while staying at bore 12 keeps the M5x0.8 port and M3x0.5 male rod thread of this model. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke within the 75 mm window and does not hold a load on air loss. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting bolts to the ISO 21287 face. For new designs, order the ACEJ12X175 instead, as this ACPJ model is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. With a 0.6 planning margin, budget about 34 N of real work, roughly 3 kg of vertical lift at 0.5 MPa. The 175 mm stroke is a made-to-order length, since the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
The -75 code sets a 75 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere between 100 and 175 mm, but it is a mechanical stop, not a load-holding brake, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. This ACPJ is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X175 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP follows the DIN-standard footprint.
