This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X20-10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X20-10B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X20-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 20mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X20-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ12X20-10B is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder: 12 mm bore, 20 mm stroke and a 10 mm adjustment window, so an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere from 10 to 20 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The male rod thread (B code) carries a 6 mm rod, and the port is M5x0.8.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. In practice, plan on roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa - about 3.5 kgf of real work, or a vertical lift of around 2.9 kg with a 2:1 margin. Fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, speed runs 30-500 mm/s, and pressure spans 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). This model is discontinued: the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X20, but confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X20-10B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X20-10B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×20 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 10-20 mm trimmed extend stroke and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suit small clamping fixtures on electronics assembly benches where every millimetre of body length counts.
A 6 mm male-thread rod drives a small reject pusher under a camera station; without the -S magnet, add external proximity sensing or order the ACEJ12X20 with the optional magnet.
Speed control from 30-500 mm/s and the short ISO 21287-class body let a compact indexer advance sample trays inside tightly spaced test-rack frames.
Size up if 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa is marginal: the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N at the same pressure. Size down to nothing smaller - 12 mm is the smallest bore in the family. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke; it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. This unit has no magnet because the -S code was not ordered; if you need CMSE or DMSE switches, order a variant with the optional -S magnet or move to the ACEJ12X20, the current-production replacement in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 20 mm extend stroke to any setting from 10 to 20 mm. It cannot lengthen the stroke past 20 mm, and the stop is not a load-holding brake - on air loss the piston still drifts. Fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at both ends.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X20 (swap the P for an E), an ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same 12 mm bore, 20 mm stroke and force class. Because the ACP is DIN-standard rather than ISO 21287, confirm the mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings carry over in the ACE family.
