This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X20-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X20-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X20-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 20mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X20-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This compact cylinder is double acting, so air both extends and retracts the 6 mm rod. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the 20 mm extend stroke down on site, giving a usable range of 10-20 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X20, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard. The bore 12 body carries M5x0.8 ports, a female M3x0.5 rod thread, a fixed TPU bumper at each end and a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod. Because the -S magnet is fitted, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly. For sizing, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rated push), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X20-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X20-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×20 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 10-20 mm trimmed stroke flicks small cartons off a conveyor, and the fitted magnet with a DMSE switch confirms the gate reached the end position each cycle.
About 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa slides cuvettes or microplates a short, repeatable distance inside a compact instrument housing.
The 2.9 kg vertical-lift equivalent holds PCBs or connector blocks during a solder or test step, with the stop screw set to the exact clamping position.
Bore 12 is the smallest step in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your load needs more, bore 16 delivers 100.5 N at the same pressure; if 56.5 N is generous for a light gate or sensor fixture, bore 12 keeps the envelope minimal. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate valve or clamp if you must hold position. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order ACEJ12X20 as the current drop-in replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N. Theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the extend stroke is adjustable between 10 and 20 mm via the stop screw.
The -10 code sets a 10 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the 20 mm extend stroke by up to 10 mm, so the working range is 10-20 mm. The fixed TPU bumpers at each end simply decelerate the piston at the ends. This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be clamped to the body for end-position detection. The model is discontinued - ACEJ12X20 is the current ISO 21287 replacement.
