About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X20-20S
The ACPJ12X20-20S is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and 20 mm stroke, now discontinued. An external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere inside the ordered 20 mm window, so one cylinder covers a 0-20 mm working range without re-plumbing. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into cramped fixture plates and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a female M3x0.5 thread, and fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. Because the -S magnet is fitted on this model, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the body for end-of-stroke signalling. As a sizing rule of thumb, plan on about 34 N (0.6 x 56.5 N) of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that the stop screw is a mechanical end stop only: on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a load-holding lock. For new builds, order the current-production ACEJ12X20, the drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class - just confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

If you only need position signals, this unit already carries the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects specify the ACEJ12X20 instead, as this ACPJ version is discontinued.
